Children and Young People

Children are always welcome at St John’s Wood Church.

Toddlers play in the chancel, under the direction of Fr Owen and the watchful eye of their carers (who have fun too!)We normally have a staffed crèche at both of the main Sunday morning services, where parents can leave very young children if they wish. They are also welcome to stay with their children in the creche.

We also run a Junior Church programme, for children of primary school age (4-11). This takes place during the 9.30am Sunday service; the children start in the church, and then move next door into the Church Hall complex for teaching and activities related to the theme of the day. They re-enter the church for the eucharistic prayer and to receive individual blessings, and then return to continue their session.

Our playgroup for toddlers, Little Locusts, will resume in due course.  We meet weekly on Tuesday mornings 10.30am – 11.30am in the church to play and sing together in God’s house (their parents or carers come too!). Have a look at our Calendar for forthcoming dates.

Once a month we have Pizza Club, for young people aged 11 to 14 year old.  We meet on the second Sunday of every month at 5.15pm, to talk about life, God, have fun and eat pizza!  This is followed by a shorter evening service at 6.30pm.  For further details please email kristina

Alice FreymanOur Safeguarding Officer Alice Freyman (who can be contacted on 020 8964 2325 for more information) says;

Here at St John’s Wood Church we welcome children (and their attendant adults of course!) into the life of our community. Families are especially welcome to our 9.30am Sunday service, where our Junior Church keeps step with the topics discussed in the main building. Toddlers are welcome in our staffed creche at either of the main morning services, with or without their parents.
