Children and Young People

Children and young people are always welcome at St John’s Wood Church.

Toddlers play in the chancel, under the direction of Fr Owen and the watchful eye of their carers (who have fun too!)We normally have a staffed crèche at the 11am Sunday morning service, where parents can leave young children if they wish. They are also welcome to stay with their children in the crèche.

On the third Sunday at 4pm there is a service we call ‘Sacred Space’. This service has elements in it to appeal to adults and children of every age. We start with Bible Study and children’s activities running in parallel. High Tea is at 4.45pm, then we gather in Church for a Sung Eucharist starting at 5.30pm.

Alice FreymanOur Safeguarding Officer Alice Freyman (who can be contacted on 020 8964 2325 for more information) says;

Here at St John’s Wood Church we welcome children (and their attendant adults of course!) into the life of our community. Young children are welcome in our staffed creche at the main Sunday morning service, with or without their parents.

St John’s Wood Church takes the safety and well-being of its children very seriously, and complies with all statutory and recommended child protection practice. Copies of our Child Protection Policy are available from the Parish Office.

GOD, LIFE & PIZZA

This group is for you who are aged 10-15 years old.  We meet to share pizza, talk about what you find important, and in different ways explore God and the Christian faith.

You are welcome whether you are already baptised or not, confirmed or not. In a fun and friendly setting we meet once a month, and you are welcome to join us as much as you can and want to.

 Possibility for Confirmation and Baptism

This group will prepare you for confirmation and/or baptism in Easter 2024.

All sessions, put together with attendance in church on a few Sundays will secure a good preparation.

Curious?Welcome to our first session, bring your parents!

You are welcome to join us on Sunday 8th October, and bring your parents.  Pizza will be served in the Church Hall from 4pm, and information and opportunities for questions starts at 4.30pm.

You are not signing up for anything. This gathering is especially good and important for those of you who are thinking about getting confirmed.  Please let us know by email if you plan to attend, so there is pizza for everyone. If you’re interested about confirmation but won’t be able to make it this day, please send us an email so we can update you on information.
