VicarThe Revd Dr Anders Bergquist
Anders has been the Vicar of St John’s Wood since 2002. Born of Swedish parents and brought up in various parts of Europe and the Middle East, Anders trained as an archaeologist in Cambridge, where he wrote his PhD on the later prehistory of Transylvania. He then studied theology at Oxford, and was ordained in St Albans diocese in 1986. He returned to Cambridge in 1989 to teach at Westcott House Theological College, and served as President of the Cambridge Theological Federation 1995-7. In the five years before coming to St John’s Wood, he was a Residentiary Canon at St Alban’s Cathedral, and was responsible for the continuing theological education and professional development of clergy and Readers in St Albans diocese.
Outside the parish, Anders is involved at national level in ecumenical work with the Scandinavian and Baltic churches, and for the last twenty-five years he has been on the C. of E.’s national Liturgical Commission He loves books (the Vicarage is full of them!), and Italy.

Associate VicarThe Revd Kristina Andréasson
Kristina joined John’s Wood Church as the Associate Vicar in February 2019. Kristina was ordained priest in the Church of Sweden in June 2007, after studies at Lund University in Uppsala and after working with children and young adults with learning difficulties. She has served parishes in southern Sweden including as Priest-in-Charge in Helsingborg. From 2014 to 2018 she was Associate Vicar at the Swedish Church in London. Kristina enjoys painting, cooking and walking , and is constantly delighted by the sense of discovering God in other people.

CurateThe Revd Dr Gary Eaborn
Gary is a full-time minister whose role is to assist the Vicar whilst continuing to train. Gary was ordained in 2023. His training for ministry has included completing a PhD ( on discerning prayer) and vocational training at Durham University. Before this Gary was, for twenty-seven years, a corporate lawyer in an international law firm based in the City of London including seventeen years as a partner. He also worked in Hong Kong where he met his wife Sylvia. Gary believes that churches should be at the heart of the communities they serve and be responsive to their needs. He is grateful for the warm welcome he has received at St John’s Wood Church.

Director of MusicMichael Cayton
Michael Cayton, as director of music, is responsible for all the music at the church. Michael trained at the Royal College of Music and he enjoys a varied career as a session musician, organist, conductor and composer. Michael began his musical career as a musician in the Grenadier Guards band where one of his duties was to play the piano during investiture ceremonies at Buckingham Palace. “Music has to power to heal and transform and I pray that our music making will bring you closer to God.”

ChurchwardenJudy Booth
Judy, as a Churchwarden, shares responsibility with the Vicar for the day-to-day functioning of the Parish. Judy also manages the Chamber Choir. Judy’s early career was in Senior Executive Recruitment and she then pursued studies in Clinical Aromatherapy and worked in that field including with cancer patients and charities. Judy joined the Chamber Choir at St John’s Wood Church in 2006 and such was the warmth of the welcome that the church became her place of worship.

ChurchwardenDavid Millar
David is one of our Churchwardens. He was born in Westminster and has lived near to the church for almost 50 years. His background is in law. David was initially attracted to St John’s Wood Church about 20 years ago by the wonderful music and became a regular attender, appreciating the time for reflection and the intelligent sermons, a welcome antidote to the worship of money and celebrity. David delights in being a part of the Church community.

TreasurerAdewale Otubushin
Adewale, as Treasurer, takes responsibility within the Parochial Church Council for Church finances. Adewale has been a member of the St John’s Wood Parish since around 2003, initially attracted by the wonderful music beautifully woven into the service, the clergy and the warm welcome of fellow parishioners. As a project and programme manager during the week, it is particularly satisfying for Adewale to support the PCC as Treasurer. Surrounded by so many talented musicians, he has also in 2024 embarked on a fun-filled sustained commitment to sing with the Chamber Choir. Hobbies include rugby and athletics (now only watching), cooking and photography.

AdministratorAbigail Nimblet-Hunt
Abigail as our Administrator will likely be your first point of contact for matters related to the running of the church. Abigail previously worked in local government and has been administrator since 2015. She loves working in a team and the variety of work she does and people she meets.

Peter as Site Manager is the first point of contact for all matters relating to the building and Church grounds. Peter has lived in London all his life. He has 30 years’ experience in social and charitable housing sectors. Peter enjoys maximising the community benefit of our unique bulding.
