Our Summer season of three films come from Britain, USA, and Brazil. Showings are in St John’s Wood Church Hall, on Lord’s Roundabout NW8 7NE Doors open at 6pm for refreshments and a 6.30pm start. We begin on Saturday 11th July with The Choral. Where would the Film Club be without Ralph Fiennes starring in another entertaining film, this time penned by our very own Alan Bennett, and set during the First World War. Despite the absence of most of its male singers, the town’s choral society is determined to press ahead with a performance of the St. Matthew Passion and appoints Dr Henry Guthrie, newly returned from a career in Germany, to recruit and train new singers. What follows is both funny and moving.
