Anders’ farewell eucharist draws nearer. It will be at 5pm on Sunday 7 June, and we will be holding a party afterwards in the Hall and Ambulatory.

We are expecting a lot of people – possibly as many as 300 so we need to ask for members of the congregation’s help with the catering please. To make things simpler, we will offer finger food only – so that no cutlery is needed. Plates of sandwiches, sausage rolls, vol-au-vents, mini savoury tarts, chicken legs, and canapé-style eats would all be welcome. So, for sweeter items, would be fairy cakes, brownies, fruit tartlets, tray bakes cut into squares, and wooden skewers with fresh fruit. It will not be feasible to cook or heat dishes.

Please bring contributions to the Hall before the service, using the outside door (by the statute of John the Baptist). Put your name on the reverse side of the plate if you would like it returned. To help co-ordinate all this, there will be sign-up sheets in the church and ambulatory from this Sunday. It would be helpful if you could indicate what you could bring, and approximately the number of servings.

If you have any questions about the catering, please speak to Sarah Ong or Judy Booth. And many thanks in advance!

If you would like to contribute to Anders’ leaving gift, you can do so (a) by using the card machine at the back of the church – select option ‘Anders’ farewell’; (b) by bank transfer to the regular St John’s Wood Parochial Church Council account but please email the parish office to let them know so that the money does not go into our general funds, or should you need the account detail; or (c) by donating cash after the 11.00 am service over the next few weeks, when one of the churchwardens or welcomers will be holding the ‘holy hat’ at the porch door to take cash donations.
