Holy Week is upon us, the most solemn week of the church’s year, in which we re-experience, mediated through the age-old ceremonies and services of the week, the events of the last week of Jesus’ life his entry into Jerusalem, his last meal with his disciples, his arrest and trial, his death, and finally his glorious resurrection.
Anyone who has gone on this Holy Week journey will tell you how much more wonderful Easter Day is, when you have allowed yourself to be carried by the liturgy through the highs and lows of the week as a whole. If you have never gone on the journey before, do think of doing so this year. There are not many parish churches that lay on a full Holy Week as we do, and we do it extremely well.
