The Film Club is back in its forty-fifth season, and features eight films from Britain, France, and USA – many of them chosen by members of the Club. As usual, there is a balance between genres, periods, countries, colour and black and white, in the finest prints available. All films are subtitled for the hard of hearing, and all are certificate U, PG or 12 (except where otherwise stated).
The final film club of the 2025-2026 season will take place on Saturday 21 March and features The English Patient (cert 15). In this epic romantic war drama, Ralph Fiennes, the patient, gradually recollects the events surrounding the plane crash which resulted in his horrific burns. Set just before and during the Second World war, it also stars Kristin Scott Thomas and Juliette Binoche. A great drama and not to be missed.
A suggested donation of £2 (£1 for senior citizens and children) gets you a full evening’s entertainment, including refreshments. Doors always open at 6pm, and the film commences at 6.30pm.
