The Film Club’s Forty-fourth season.

18 October, 2024

The film club’s forty-fourth season features eight films from Britain, Japan,
Sweden and USA.
There is a balance between genres, periods, countries,
colour and black and white, in the finest prints available.
All films are subtitled for the hard of hearing.

As ever, for a suggested donation of £2 (£1 for senior citizens
and children) you receive a full evening’s entertainment,
including refreshments. The film club meets approximately once a month;
first performance Saturday 26th October in the Main Hall next
to the church. Doors open at 6pm and the film commences at
6.30pm.

All films will be subtitled for the hard of hearing, and are either U
PG or 12 except where stated.

The films up to Christmas are as follows:

Saturday 26th October – Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
To commemorate Maggie Smith’s illustrious career, we are
pleased to show this sprightly sequel.
Saturday 16th November – Testament of Youth
Close to Remembrance Day, this true story of Vera Brittain
traces her journey from her privileged background to the nursing
stations for the wounded and dying soldiers in the trenches of
the Great War.
Alicia Vikander gives an outstanding performance in this
moving film.
Saturday 14th December – Kiss Me Kate
Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson star as a divorced pair of
actors brought together to open a new show. Plot comparisons
to Taming of the Shrew are entirely intentional! This high
energy comedy musical has a fabulous score from Cole Porter.
