The Feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist falls on the 24th June, and is always marked here at St John’s Wood Church with plenty of festal services, concerts and parties. In 2012 this also co-incides with the vicar’s twenty-fifth anniversary of his ordination as a priest and his tenth year as vicar of St John’s Wood. So there’s even more of an excuse for spectacular celebrations throughout the month of June 2012. Details will be posted here soon!
Our most recent Patronal Festival in June 2011 featured, among other things,
a concert showcasing a unique collaboration between the early music group Passamezzo and a group of Sufi musicians from Morocco;
an evening of nineteenth-century Romantic music by the brilliant young Croatian pianist, Demir Sertić, an all-Bach concert by violinist Thomas Bowes;
and the ordination to the priesthood of our curate, Fr Owen Dobson, on St Alban’s Day, by Bishop Graeme Knowles, and Fr Owen’s First Mass marking the Feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist, complete with choir, trombone, claritnet and drums. You can see some of the pictures (mainly of the party afterwards!) in our Gallery
