Children are always welcome at St John’s Wood church.
We normally have a staffed crèche at both the main Sunday morning services, where parents can leave very young children if they wish. They are also welcome to stay with their children in the creche.
We also run a Junior Church programme, for children of primary school age (4-11) . This takes place during the 9.30 service (except on the second Sunday of the month). The children start in the church, and then move next door into the Church Hall complex for teaching and activity related to the theme of the day. They re-enter the church for the eucharistic prayer, and to receive individual blessings, and then usually go out again to continue their session. On the second Sunday of the month, the children stay in for the whole service, and play a leading part in it.
On the third Thursday of every month, at 2.15pm, Little Locusts happens in church. This is a short, informal service for pre-school aged children and those who look after them. We sing songs and make music, tell stories from the Bible, do creative things, and have a lot of fun in our Father’s house.
St John’s Wood Church takes the safety and well-being of its children very seriously, and complies with all statutory and recommended child protection practice. Copies of our Child Protection Policy are available from the Parish Office.
